Fundraising Director Urgently Needed

The Fundraising Director is an essential position on Delwood’s Executive. This person is responsible for the coordination of volunteers involved with the League’s fundraising activities, which include Bingo, Casino, Grants and other events.

We are fortunate to have community members that already take care of the Casinos and Grants. Bingos provide our operating budget for Delwood Hall, Rink, and Sports Equipment.

If you have been wanting to meet more of your community and get involved, now would be a great time to put your talents and volunteer time to good use.

For more information on this position, contact:

Delwood Annual General Meeting March 16

Delwood’s Annual General Meeting
March 16, 2015 at 6:30pm
Delwood Community Hall

Delwood needs your attendance! We must have quorum at the Annual General Meeting to be able to proceed with running the community. If we do not get quorum then we cannot conduct the business of the community, including electing a new Executive Board and running the many programs that you enjoy — for example soccer, youth programs, Fall Festival and the running of the ice rink etc.

Any Delwood resident, with a current community membership qualifies as a voting member. Memberships will be available at the meeting.

This is your chance to have a vote on what happens within your community and to find out what the community is planning for the following year. You DO NOT have to volunteer at the meeting, but your community league needs your attendance and please bring your neighbours with you.

Due to some dedicated Delwood residents we have been able to fill most of the positions on the executive board. However 2 of our executives have had to do double duty and fulfill two positions each. So please consider giving the community some of your time by volunteering for the Executive Board or for one of our many events. If you have any questions about the Executive Board positions please contact me at

President, Delwood Community

Delwood Memory Meet-Ups Continue

In preparation for the 50th celebration, several Delwood Community members attended two story sharing sessions on September 23 and 24. In attendance were some of the first families to settle in the community: Silvia and John McDonald, Harold Brown, Natalie and Jim Schneider, Art and Alma Shea, Paul and Joyce Majnarich, John Jalowchuk, Carol Milligan, Dick Nichols, John Bowman and Vic and Shirley Silakiewicz. The planning committee was thrilled to hear and learn about the many activities and good times from when Delwood was a new and growing community. The information gathered will be used to write Delwood’s story of its 50 years that will be shared at next year’s celebrations in June.

The next session is November 19 at 7 pm at Delwood Hall.

Come and share your memories, memorabilia, and tell us why Delwood has been an important part of your life. What brought you to Delwood? What have been the best parts of living in this community? Why do you stay?
